According to conventional classification of atherosclerosis, normal arterial wall is "0". Lesion type I is initial lesion which can be revealed only microscopically as accumulation of lipid droplets in arterial intima. Lesion type II is fatty streak - local lipid accumulation. One more lipid-rich lesion is lipofibrous plaque that has lipid core and fibrotic cap. This is lesion Va. Favorable development leads to lesion Vc, that is fibrotic plaque with low lipid content and huge fibrotic cap.
