Further accumulation of lipids in arterial wall stimulates cell proliferation and extracellular matrix formation. These manifestations are necessary for genesis of atherosclerotic lesion. We can conclude that accumulation of lipids in arterial cells is a trigger mechanism of atherogenesis.
