Toverify the involvement of revealed genes in cholesterol accumulation, we induced knock-down of these genes in cultured macrophages. Significant differences in cholesterol accumulation were shown for three genes (PERK, IL15, ANXA1). Knock-down of these genes prevented cholesterol accumulation in macrophages. ALL THESE GENES appeared to be RELATED TO ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM.
